Sketches of Northumberland County Capturing dynamic and heavenly Ontario landscapes the established artist Keith Cornell puts the viewer in awe. With his sketches he plays with light, texture and a complex colour palette. His Northumberland series is unique and beautiful as Cornell finds a way to capture the moment in all of its vibrancy and depth. As the force behind his larger works his sketches are cherished and difficult to find. We are proud to represent this new feature collection that's here just in time for the Holidays. Keith Cornell Biography Keith is a painter of Ontario's landscapes. He travels about Ontario making small acrylic sketches and brings them back to his Markham home and transforms them into larger statements. His love of the Ontario landscape began at an early age. He grew up in the York region surrounded by the lush farmland and by great works of art that his grandfather (a director at Simpson's Fine Art Gallery in Toronto) brought home. David Milne lived just down the street and Keith was lucky enough to see a plein air painter in action. It was a combination of these factors that inspired Keith to pursue a career in art. Cornell is now a full time painter. He spent 34 years as an art teacher including 20 years as Head of the Art Department at Woburn Collegiate in Scarborough. He is a graduate of York University's Fine Art Department. He paints only in Ontario because of his boundless enthusiasm to explore his home province. An ardent believer in knowing your local area, Keith sketches in all seasons. Recently, Keith has done shows on The Madawaska Valley, Algonquin Park, Waterfalls of Ontario, Beaches of Ontario, Rocks, Algoma and The French River. His most recent show focuses on Northumberland County
