Having managed to find very little footage on YouTube of the Woodborough Loops on the Berks and Hants route I took a trip on the 4th August to film the many mendip stone trains that use them to allow faster services to pass. The vantage point is the relatively new footbridge that Network Rail installed, given it proximity to a nearby road seen in the footage is hardly used, only one other person was on the bridge that day and he had turned up for a train as well. The mornings workings were; 60 046 with DC Rail wagons crosses with 66601 on the 05:32 Whatley - Hayes & Harlington running 3 hours late. 66614 & 66 641 arrive on the 06:41 Acton Merehead, letting the 08:04 Paddington - Penzance pass before departing at the 09:08 booked time. Class 800 IET 07:13 Paignton - Paddington 66131 07:07 Tytherington - Calvert 59206 07:12 Merehead - Acton enters woodborough loops to let the 0605 Penzance - Paddington pass, due to arrive at 08:51 the jumbo train was running 80 mins late at this point. 59203 10:31 Merehead - Acton then pulls into the loops to let a Class 800 IET to pass with the 08:15 Penzance - Paddington Date 4th August 2021
