Is it the summer of barefoot shoes…sort of? Last year, I never would’ve guessed that some of the trendiest shoes of the summer would be Vibram Five Fingers and low profile sneakers. Even Balenciaga has released their “Zero Sneaker” which looks more like an insole moulded out of play-doh with a heel cup and a toe loop…but at least that toe loop is straight! And it’s great that barefoot features on shoes are trending…but it needs to be more than a trend! I read an article where someone talked about how they liked their Vibrams and had been wearing them for years…but might stop wearing them if they became too popular. But that’s missing the point! Wearing something for a trend is great it it gets you into it, but you don’t want to abandon what’s good for your feet just because the trend moves on.
