In this video, I'm going to be talking about the mysterious process of the "mash out" when it comes to making beer. But what is a mash out, you ask? Well, it's a step in the brewing process where we increase the temperature of the mash (a mixture of crushed grains and hot water) in order to halt the enzymatic process and fix the sweetness of the wort (the liquid extracted from the mash). So why would you want to do a mash out? Well, it helps to improve the efficiency of the brewing process and can lead to a clearer, cleaner final product.
