Purpose: the stock carb vent on pre-08 bikes hangs down right by the rear wheel. If going through deep water, or in some cases, heavy rain (I've never had a problem in the rain pre-T-mod), this vent can get plugged and stall your engine. With the T-mod installed, if the bottom vent goes under water or gets plugged with debris, the top opening (under the rear fender) should still be open and your bike won't stall and leave you dead in the water or scratching your head wonder WTF?! Tools you'll need: Dykes (or similar cutting device) Materials you'll need: Hose (1/4" ID) Hose T (for 1/4" hose) It would probably be easiest if you remove the tank. You will need to remove the side panels and seat. (Body work video: • KLR 650 Body Work Removal and Install... ) Locate the carb vent hose; it is on the top left side of the carb and goes to the bottom of the bike in front of the rear wheel. Cut the existing vent hose a little bit below level with the airbox to carb duct (maybe 3 or 4 inches from the carb vent nipple). Install the T so that the bottom points to the right side of the bike. Route the new vent hose under the aribox to carb duct, up between the airbox and the frame, then to the back of the bike along the subframe. Come out somewhere under the fender. Connect the new hose to the T. Zip tie the hose to the frame (but not too tight - you don't want to pinch the hose).
