In classical education, parents often have thoughtful questions and sincere concerns about why students read fairy tales, Greek myths, and other ancient stories in a Christian school. We are grateful for your engagement and desire to understand the purpose behind our curriculum. This seminar is designed to address those questions and to share the heart behind our classical Christian approach to education and literature. At La Luz, our goal is not simply to fill students with information, but to form wise, discerning, Christ-centered thinkers. We seek to help students learn how to reason, ask good questions, and pursue truth with humility and confidence in God’s Word. Literature—especially classical stories and myths—plays an important role in this process. During this seminar, we will explore: The purpose of classical Christian education and how it shapes the hearts and minds of students Why imagination and storytelling are essential to understanding reality How ancient myths and fairy tales reflect humanity’s longing for truth, virtue, and redemption How these stories help students wrestle with complex moral questions about justice, mercy, good, and evil How understanding ancient ideas prepares students to engage today’s culture biblically How Scripture affirms that all truth ultimately points to Christ Our hope is that this seminar will strengthen your confidence in our educational model and encourage you as partners in your child’s formation. We deeply value your role in this process and look forward to learning and growing together. We hope you will join us for this important and encouraging conversation.
