Let's debunk the age-old saying, "practice makes perfect," emphasizing that perfection is an illusion that hinders progress. We need to embrace the fact that we might be bad at something before getting really good at it. Artists, beginners or pros, often hesitate due to the fear of not being good enough. Drawing from personal experience, I share my struggle with exploring POSCA art paint markers, a venture I've procrastinated due to fear of incompetence and my busy schedule. This serves as a reminder to everyone, including me, to push past our fear and dive headfirst into what we want to do. Sadly, the need for instant results has been ingrained in our society, setting unrealistic expectations that deter us from learning and progressing. The truth is, getting GOOD takes time, dedication, and patience. Getting to GREAT takes even more consistency and an open mind to learn from mistakes. Perfection? It's pure fantasy. There's something incredible about dedicating time to a craft and mastering it. Drawing, in particular, is a magical art that allows us to evoke feelings in others through lines and blocks on paper.
