Lenovo has introduced a new two-in-one device featuring an E Ink notepad on the back. The device is based on Windows, and it includes a special UI for the E Ink display, offering features such as calendar information and unread emails. The focus of the product is on productivity, allowing users to take notes using a pen or finger input. The device is equipped with Wacom technology and runs on an Intel processor, powering the E Ink display. One of the main functions of the device is its note-taking capability, allowing users to quickly jot down information during meetings. The notes can be translated into text, copied, and pasted into applications like Outlook or email. The notes can also be synchronized with OneNote, providing easy access to previous notes and ensuring they are backed up with internet connectivity. The E Ink display offers an extended battery life, lasting under 10 hours when using E Ink and up to 20 to 24 hours when using the LCD. However, the device is not optimized to run every app, and using a browser to read articles is not recommended. Lenovo has a specific application called eReader for reading PDF documents, allowing users to make remarks, highlights, and annotations on the documents. The E Ink device supports writing in color, even though the display itself is black and white. Users can make colored remarks on PDF documents, and these annotations are saved within the document. Lenovo has experimented with E Ink devices in the past, adopting different form factors. This particular device, with a fixed keyboard, is designed for increased productivity, targeting users who require both a laptop and a traditional notepad. A suggestion is made for a swiveling E Ink laptop where the entire screen is E Ink without bezels, combining the benefits of the E Ink display with the convenience of a traditional laptop. The development time for a new product is mentioned to be around one month, showcasing Lenovo's agility in bringing innovative products to the market. The company is based in Beijing and is known for continually exploring new ideas and product concepts, striving to differentiate itself in the competitive laptop market.
