Old school 2 tube linear amplifier pretty much made for CB back during the CB boom, the Mohawk 10-4a. This one is a High Drive has just the two 572B's and does not have the 6146 driver tube. This one was acquired many moons ago for a song and a dance. It did not come with a top cover and is not in great shape so off to the closet it went. However, recently a local here was looking for one, so I dug it up. I was surprised at how heavy it was and also see why it didn't have a top cover. It has an oversize Peter Dahl plate transformer in it. The transformer sticks out about a 1/2 inch over the top. Earlier in the day it only did 900 watts peak, but late at night when I took this video with the line voltage higher, it peaked at 1200. I didn't know 572B's could do so much. I remember that getting around 900 peak was about the best you are gonna get. This does have the "CB" type RF actuated relay keying, meaning that when it senses RF going in, it keys itself. No foot switch. OK, now to inflame the Hams. I have had Dentrons and Heathkits, and like the Pride, this is much better built. Tuned input, standard Pi output, doorknob plate blocking cap, Heavy duty components and better duty cycle then frickn Heathkits. I'll take this over any 572B Ham amp I have seen.
