Time for a big boy level. From the first fight onwards you'll be encountering new enemies and collecting big guns to help you power through the opposition. Like the original level, the first new enemy you'll encounter are the harpies, which are still just as weak but fire projectiles a bit more often. A little while later you'll encounter your first big fight with tons of spiders, soldiers, and a new Purple Arachnoid variant that fires lasers and what I guess are plasma bombs. They're not too bad when on their own but make for oppressive support units since they're tanky and can regenerate health slowly over time; either focus fire on them first or save them for last. Once you get on the bridge, you'll grab some C4 and will have to use it to quickly clear out Gnaars and Kleer before they can overwhelm you. You'll then encounter yet another new enemy, the Fire Chicken! It's basically a SS2 style harpy that shoots fireballs and is bigger & tougher than regular harpies. Even with the health buff they're still pushovers, but can do some hefty damage if you catch one of their projectiles or somehow get hit by their swoop attack. After you leave the bridge, you'll be greeted with the Minigun and back to back fights that can surprise you if you're not careful. From this point forward, every fight is pure mayhem and you'll be constantly switching between weapons to keep enemies at bay. If you go for the rooftop secret, you'll find the Eraser early! Idk how they got it to work, but it's a railgun that shoots a hitscan beam and is able to plow through lines of fodder enemies. It's like the Crossbow from Siberian Mayhem, only Fusion's enemy hitboxes don't suck, so it actually feels good to use (Seriously Croteam, fix your damn hitboxes for SS4 & SM, they're trash.) The final thing I'll mention is the reworked boss fight. Instead of fighting the Warship, it will drop off a new Purple Biomech called the Eradicator. It's honestly a lame boss fight considering how difficult the rest of the level is, and it doesn't help that it usually gets stuck behind objects or will just spin around like crazy. Aside from pathfinding issues, it's just not a fun enemy to fight since the projectiles home in on the player and have a huge blast radius, and if one hits you directly it's usually a one hit kill. This attack is bad because it essentially forces you to focus it down with the Minigun so you can kill it before it kills you. Thankfully it's a one on one fight but I can see it being a problem in later levels if it comes back. Boss aside, fantastic level! Probably my favorite one so far.
