The idea that education is make-or-break for a child is deeply ingrained, but at the same time, when analyzed from a social-science perspective, education has made surprisingly little progress in terms of effectiveness. Makiko Nakamuro tackles "the economics of education," which analyzes decision-making on issues of educational policy and education on household finances from an economic perspective. By treating education as an investment, approaching it not through emotional appeals but through arguments grounded in hard data, we can unlock the true potential of our children.
