This is a revisit of the original cartridge comparison. One of your viewers recommended a better recording to be used. So I picked RadioHead Fake Plastic Trees. This recording is a familiar popular recording that should show off the strengths and weaknesses of the Audio Technica PTG33II, Shure M97xVL (which is a Shure M97xe with an LP Gear Vivid Line Sytlus), and the Ortofon 2m black. The recording itself is considered to be an audiophile recording and this particular copy was chosen due to the imperfect surface to highlight not only how each cartridge reproduces the details but also how they all deal with less than perfect condition media. This is a side by side comparison so please use a high quality headphone or listening device to get the full effect. The equipment used was a modified Technics SL-1200 mk2 with a Funk Firm Achromat, Cardas tonearm rewire, KAB Jackplate, and Timestep EVO bearing mod. These were recorded straight to 24/48 resolution lossless M4A (ALAC) before uploading.
