India collects all kinds of data on its citizens - except the one thing that defines its society: caste. Caste data was part of the Indian census till 1950. What was so scary about this data that from Nehru to Modi - so many Indian leaders have tried so hard to cover it up? In this video, we explain how the census affects Indian politics and society - and why the demand for a caste census is once again gathering momentum today.
