Step # 1 -- Finding the Water Temperature Map The first step is going to be navigating to the government site that provides this information, this can be found at "www.nodc.noaa.gov/dsdt/cwtg". You will be presented with a map of the US broken down into states, with any states having the water temperature available having a color. Step # 2 -- Finding a Temperature Measurement Point To view the water temperature in a specific state click on it -- in this example we are clicking on Texas. A new page will load and you will see a Google Maps image with several markers on it. These markers represent points where there is a temperature recording being made and to view the temperature at this point simply click on the marker. When we do this a box with additional details will appear. Step # 3 -- Finding the Water Temperature These details tell you where the thermometer is located as well as the current temperature. The temperature is displayed in Fahrenheit, with the Celsius figure being displayed in brackets. You will be told when the reading was last made as well as an average reading for the month. This process can be repeated for finding water temperatures in all the states available on the overview map on the previous page.
