Did you know giant eel-like salamanders are lurking in the swamps of the southeast? 👀 Join The Wildlife Society member Maddie Zickgraf as she studies two-toed amphiuma and greater siren populations in isolated cypress-gum swamps at The Jones Center in southwest Georgia. Isolated wetlands are critical to the landscape, serving as biodiversity hotspots and providing ecosystem services! Maddie’s graduate work focuses on some of the top predators in these ecosystems, where she seeks to understand their movements, population structure, and other aspects of their ecology.
