Mountaintop Nightscape Adventure | Landscape Astrophotography | MilkyWay | Perseids

Sometimes an adventure goes just as you planned. And sometimes, nature has better ideas and makes that adventure better than your wildest dreams. That's what happened when I drove up over 7,000 feet to the summit of Monte Saccarello in the Ligurian Alps, right on the border between Italy and France. After an exhilarating off-road drive, reaching the top at sunset, I was treated to the most beautifully dark and clear night sky, a dazzling peak of the Perseid meteor shower, distant lightning storms and a final surprise that blew me away. These are the sorts of nights that I dream about. This is the very essence of nightscape adventure. ______________ I use this channel to share my experiences of being out in the landscape at night photographing the night sky. I want to inspire others to give it a go, and also provide a route for those who can't get out to enjoy some of the experience.
