Brian J. Grim, Ph.D. is a leading expert on global religion and religious freedom. His research is frequently presented to high-level governmental and nongovernmental groups throughout the world. Dr. Grim is Director of Cross-National Data and Senior Researcher in Religion and World Affairs at the Pew Research Center's Forum on Religion & Public Life in Washington, D.C. He is co-author of The Price of Freedom Denied: Religious Persecution and Conflict in the 21st Century (Cambridge, 2011, with Roger Finke). He is also a research associate at Boston University's Institute on Culture, Religion and World Affairs, where he co-edits the World Religion Database. From 1982-2002, he lived and worked in China, the former USSR, Central Asia, Europe and the Middle East. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
