This is the first part of a series comparing two different types of glass sealants for increased hydrophobic properties, also adding in the ease of cleaning and a beautiful shine to your glass. After I shot this video, I will be doing some videotape on how these coatings compare as the Griot’s Garage is easier to apply and easy to find at O’Reilly’s Auto Parts or online and some of the big box stores. The DPC, which is Dallas Paint Coatings is available online. This is the flagship coating for the company and is an amazing product that has a rated durability of nine years while adding 3 to 5 µm of thickness to the surface that you put it on, which can be paint, glass, wheels, plastics, as well as headlight lenses. I had been reading really great reviews about the glass sealant and wondered if I would start offering this as a service to my detailing clients. I like to do real world testing on my daily driver, which is the blue Dodge Caliber. I also wanted to recoat my windshield as it had been a number of years since my last coating and they were starting to get a bit weak, but still hanging in there. In video #2 show some of the effects of the water behavior by showing a side-by-side comparison of the two products while pouring some water on them. At the time of writing this description I’m still waiting for the perfect day when I’m driving in the rain and I have my iPad with me which lately has not been possible. That will be in included in #2 in the series or it may have to wait for a third part.
