So what was happening in this high desert valley? On a previous trip to this area I found multiple projectile points, two different styles of points as well as a section on a hill that had an abundance of debitage as well as some stone tools. I figured this was a hunting spot that people liked since it had ease of access from low to high desert or an animal migration path. I returned to the same area to search a different spot in the valley and found more artifacts. First was micaceous pottery which may indicate a presence of the Ancestral Puebloans. Next was a different projectile point from what I had previously found. That's three different projectile points in a general area. Quite fascinating! I wasn't expecting to find pot sherds since I generally associate pottery with a more sedentary setting, a village setting perhaps. So, once again, lots to contemplate! Thanks For Watching!
