The Heidelberg Project is one of the most inspiring pieces of art in all of Detroit. The brainchild of artist Tyree Guyton - who returned to his beloved street in Detroit's East Side in 1986 - the idea was to bring Heidelberg back to what it once was. As much of a personal goal as it was a project that would unite the entire neighbourhood, Guyton was intent on changing the perception of this area of Detroit. Utilizing the abandoned houses, refuse, discarded items, and even the street itself, the group spent years painting, building, and integrating what was found and old into something new and truly unique.
