1992, Voodoo Rhythm (VOODOO 01) & Record Junkie Bern --- so we moved from 3005 to 3098, from the Marzili-Quartier right next to the little river Aare (the other end of the same street as the Bauschlosserei Soltermann - what later would become the SolterPolter-Squat in 1997...) to some fucking Agglo-Kaff where people tried to beat me up because I didn't wear those wool-pullovers and listened to Rock Music and Pop and came from the city ("so you must be gay!"). that was in 1987 and I was nine years old, turning ten and live sucked! the only two people being nice were two older girls called Chrischä & Bea. later I lost sight sight with Chrischä just to find her again in the middle of the cool (the best!) Squatter-Scene of Lucerne by the end of the 90ies. Bea later was also travelling around but in the meantime I also became friends with her brother, a boyscout called Billy, that became a young Punk and wore all these cool clothes (I have uploaded a Gabber-Video that refers to him, because that's the way he went before settling down a bit). it was Billy that introduced me to DISMEMBER and the "Haus der Lüge"-CD by EINSTÜRZENDE NEUBAUTEN (I only knew "Tabula Rasa" - as you can see we're in 1992/1993 now). and some day Bea handed over to me the "Strategien Gegen Architekturen 1"-CD: "Keep this, this record really makes me wanna puke! there is a song just accompained by water! And here's another LP I hate! The party was fine but this record is awful!" and that's how I got hold of the Garage Punk Switzerland-Compilation. I already had the poster of the record release party (the album was part of the entry and it was sold out after that night) and I was so jealous of the people that were able to go there. Didn't know how this may sound but the poster looked so cool! At that time I already had visited the Record Junkie store, i knew the older/the second one at the Rathausgasse (where I also have bought my first CRASS record - "Stations Of The Crass", played on 33rpm instead of 45rpm but I was too scared to tell Pfifu, the shop owner and bought the album anyway. later at home I was blown away for ever.) and when this compilation was released the shop already had moved to its third & last destination at the Kramgasse 8. I may have been aware of the records released by the Record Junkie Shop/Label but I was interested in Hardcore-Punk, not Rockabilly and stuff - but this record was really the holy grail. Maybe I should not post this clip because the album already sells for collectors prices and now that you can hear this the item changes from a nice-to-have to a MUST-HAVE-RECORD! I have added all the leaflets that were included (as far as I know not every band included a sheet) plus the record-release-poster, two articled from the DER BUND-newspapers-archive and the postcard that shows the entrance door of the Record Junkie shop @ Kramgasse 8 and a sticker (an extra from STRAPAZIN-magazine, I guess). The photo of Beat-Man inside Record Junkie Store @ Rathausgasse belongs to Beat-Man himself and was already published in "Heute Und Danach - The Swiss Underground Music Scene of the 80's"-book by Lurker Grand/André P. Tschan et al @ Edition Patrick Frey. The video still that shows Pfifu today was stolen from the trailer to the ROY AND THE DEVILS MOTORCYCLE-documentary "Learnin' to lose" by Sylvia Bergmann. The band itself has just released a new album called "Im Reich Der Wilden Tiere (No Milk No Sugar)" - get in via VOODO RHYTHM RECORDS (VR12114) www.voodoorhythm.ch www.bboxbbs.ch/home/recordjunkie/
