All cleft kids are different depending on the severity of their case. Your surgeon and cleft team will make a plan with you to decide which surgeries your child will need and when to have them done. My sweet Levi was born with a bilateral cleft palate with both the soft and hard palate affected, so our team wanted to get his soft palate repaired first and then wait a couple years to repair the hard palate. At 13 months, Levi got the soft palate repair, and it was the hardest surgery he's had so far.
