Join us as we examine a central pillar of Martin Luther King Jr.’s vision on education, what it means to ascend to the 'mountaintop' of opportunity, equity, and collective uplift. Drawing on King’s final sermon at Mason Temple Church, where he spoke of having 'been to the mountaintop,' this program reflects on the vantage point of K-12 and higher education—its promise, its shortcomings, and the transformative possibilities it holds for individuals, communities, and democracy. Panelists will discuss and reflect on King’s call for us to think ambitiously about character, opportunity, and the role of public institutions in the United States.
