First fan of the year! | 1996 Vornado model 180 compact air circulator | Initial review

A somewhat normal fan with a twist! In this one, we will be looking at one of the last, US-made Vornado fans from the mid 90s. These was before Vornado started to skimp out in terms of build quality, parts and even performance. I got this fan from Ebay for £16 which seemed like a pretty good deal for a fan that isn't natively sold in the UK. There have been a few newer models that were imported from america sold online but they don't really show up too often. This fan has really suprised me with how well it performs. It outnumbers every other fan I have in this size as well as some of my bigger fans which was totally unexpected. However, it also eats quite a lot of power to do that thanks to the beefy shaded pole motor that was put in this. So, if that is something that would be of concern to you, then this is not the fan for you. One more thing to note. Since our electricty supply in the uk provides 50hz, its common for a lot of these American fans to act a bit odd compared to how they run in America. That also happens to be the case for this fan since its speed controller doesn't seem to have as good of range to other examples of this exact model in the States.
