Creating implications from imagery has always been an interesting facet to filmmaking, especially in animation, where the details are more often than not expressed differently. A well-known method in animation typically involves the visual exaggerations posed in facial expressions, or body expressions. But this video seeks to explore from directors like Shinichirō Watanabe, who employs a considerably more subtle, perhaps even unorthodox take on this characterization, that relies less on exaggerations and more on staging, blocking, and the environment to establish a character dynamic between two characters, in a style that I call the Two-Shot Dynamic. I have enjoyed seeing your thoughts on different artistic takes and would love to interact with more of you. All referenced music and film are located in the end of the video.
