This is how Evolution came together. In September 2002, Eric Bischoff awarded the World Heavyweight Title to Triple H. Ric Flair interrupted and challenged Triple H for the title, who then caught him with a cheap shot. Then they met later that night. The ref jumped out of the ring, Triple H hit Flair with a low blow and followed by the Pedigree to retain the title. Two weeks later, Rico beat Flair with his hand on the rope. Regarding the loss, Triple H told him this isn’t the Flair he looked up to and if he continues like that, he should retire, calling him pathetic. Flair told him he’s the one who’s pathetic, because he’s holding a title he didn’t earn. Few days later at Unforgiven, Triple H faced Rob Van Dam for the title. With the ref knocked down, Flair hit RVD with the Sledgehammer and Triple H with the Pedigree to retain the title. Then Flair shook Triple H’s hand, raised it and they hugged. On Raw, Flair said he did what he did because Triple H opened his eyes, saying that he will take Triple H to another level. RVD interrupted, Triple H attacked him from behind and they beat him down together until Bubba Ray Dudley came out for the save. Then they had a tag team match, where Flair rolled up Bubba to win the match. Then Bubba somehow missed the table with Triple H and it was RVD who put him through it. A month later at No Mercy, Triple H put his title on the line against Kane’s Intercontinental Title in a Unification Match. Flair stopped Triple H from a loss and Triple H unified the titles. The feud between Kane and Triple H continued for weeks. Then at Survivor Series, Shawn Michaels won the title. Triple H missed next day’s Raw because of an injury. Bischoff knew that and put Flair in a match against Kane. Flair wanted to get out of the match, saying that if Kane lays a finger on him, Triple H will destroy him. Kane ran after him, he got attacked by Batista, who then hit him with a spinebuster and followed by the sit-down powerbomb. A week later, Kane got confronted by Flair, he went after him, Batista attacked him from behind and they had a match. With the ref knocked down, Flair hit Kane with a chair and Batista with the powerbomb to win the match. Then Flair raised Batista’s hand, implying that they are teaming up now. A week later, Flair told Batista to embrace his rage and unleash it. Then he faced The Hurricane, where he won easily. A week later at Armageddon, Batista beat Kane with the help of Flair. Then Triple H beat Michaels in a three stages of hell match to win the title. For the following month, Triple H was in a feud with Scott Steiner, Batista kept destroying others and he teamed up with Flair. At Royal Rumble, Triple H got disqualified against Steiner. On Raw, Steiner wanted a rematch and Triple H told him he’s not medically cleared. Flair said he can fight someone else and Batista came out. Triple H attacked Steiner, who then fought back, Batista wanted a fight but he got stopped. Randy Orton wished Steiner good luck against Batista, who then caught him and intimidated him. Then Batista and Steiner met. Randy attacked Steiner, ending in a DQ. Steiner went after Randy, Flair saved him and they beat him down together, ending the show with their arms raised together. A week later, Steiner called out Triple H, who then came out and said that from now on, when he gets called out, he also gets Flair, Randy and Batista. Later that night, they destroyed him together. Another week later, they introduced themselves as Evolution.
