Stapelia Gigantea Bloom Time Lapse

I’m really happy to have had a chance to catch one of these Stapelia gigantea blooms opening. These plants are native to South Africa. The bloom smells like rotting flesh and death. The large size and awful smell are used to attract is pollinator, the carrion fly. I think it’s pretty incredible that I filmed this upstairs of the plant shop in a corner in a small light box, and the carrion flies still found it. Look closely, what do you think the fly left behind right before the bloom closes, larvae? This was recorded over a three week period.
