You might think that Speaking Part 1 is easy but do you run into a challenge when you get to IELTS Speaking Part 2? Many students don't know how to properly take notes on Speaking Part 2. What happens is this: the examiner will give you instructions and then he or she will hand you a booklet with a card on it. It says: describe a movie. You can say where you saw it, why you liked it, etc. For students from Saudi Arabia, talking is everything in your culture and you do great on the Speaking test except in Part 2. We want you guys to get higher scores on IELTS Speaking Part 2 . If you want to get a higher score on this part of the exam you must take notes. Why? You are graded on fluency and coherence. To get a 7 or higher for this category you must have an organized answer and you must speak for the full 2 minutes. If you do not take notes your answer will not go for the full 2 minutes because you will not give yourself time to think about it. If you think about your answer for the full minute that you are given and take some notes you will be able to keep going when you start talking. Also, for fluency and coherence, to get a high score your answer needs to be organized. When you do not take notes your answers are too short and are not well organized. You must take notes and think about it beforehand to have an organized answer. So when the examiner gives you the card you should read the card. Take notes on the piece of paper. Please take notes! Take your time. When you start speaking your answer it will be organized and impressive to the examiner. Practice this at home. Take the time to take notes!
