In 2013, Columbia partnered with international mountain guide Kenji Kondo to begin developing the ideal high-altitude climbing wear. This marked the beginning of the project "WIN THE SUMMIT PROJECT," aiming for the ascent of the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest (8848.86m). That same year, with climbing gear equipped with Columbia's proprietary Omni-Heat reflective insulation technology, Kondo’s team achieved the remarkable feat of summiting Mount Everest. Then, in 2024, Columbia and Kondo took action once again. For the Everest open-climbing team led by Adventure Guys, the company Kondo represents, Columbia developed summit attack wear featuring the latest Omni-Heat Infinity technology.
