This video takes us to the Brașov City-Region (Romania), where pop-up markets have become a concrete tool to connect farmers directly with residents and bring local producers to the centre of food policies. Through the perspectives of Liviu Gaceu, Professor of Food Engineering at Transilvania University of Brașov, who frames the strategic vision of the city’s food system, and Adrien Ladariu, Head of Events at the Brașov Market Administration Service, who explains the pop-up market programme in practice, the video shows how food policies can move from vision to action. The video explores how pop-up markets work in Brașov as temporary, flexible and accessible urban markets, and why this model fits the needs of Romanian farmers, allowing them to balance production, work and direct contact with consumers. By linking strategic food policy goals with a concrete, on-the-ground solution, Brașov shows how placing local producers at the heart of food policies can lead to real, measurable change in urban food systems.
