The parade was somewhere between 30 and 40 minutes, and I was able to film most of it. It consisted of dozens of decorated vehicles and floats, and perhaps 200 people from Watrous and the nearby Manitou Beach. Rather impressive considering the population of these towns combined is around 2000. Apologies for the shaky video - I was holding my phone in one hand and blowing a train whistle with the other. Really it's a miracle I was able to stay on-subject as much as I did. Some highlights include: Floats from the local Anglican, Lutheran and Catholic churches Marching band of, like, seven people A very large monster truck A very small monster truck "Miz Bojangles" Van Giant floats from Co-Op, Home Hardware, GM and Ford Lots and lots of tractors "Scremin Eagles" float A pharmacy float throwing out handfulls of "Free Pills" Gus and Olga Some things that went by before I started recording: Some VERY LARGE tractors, including one with tank treads instead of wheels Like I'm talking comparable size to the monster truck A kid in a tin-man costume, drifting around on a motorized tricycle Police car, Ambulance and Fire engine Probably lots of other stuff I wish I could have seen or filmed Some things that went by after I stopped recording: A pair of jets from Moose Jaw Something I discovered about myself: I make strange noises when I pick up candy
