Pomene, Mozambique | Lessons in Conservation

Set in a beautiful, off the beaten track community in Pomene, Mozambique, this holiday programmes ‘classroom’ was easily one of the most serene, albeit hot, locations we have ever had the privilege to teach in. With 10 children, aged 13 to 15, we had a small intimate group that started off timid but quickly warmed up to us. Accompanied by their passionate teacher and joined by the chief, Arnalo Paculo, of their small village, Macachula, the sense of community is unrivalled and very apparent. We were also fortunately joined by other community leaders such as Alfredo, whose eyes show the wisdom of his years, and Blessings, the local divemaster at the lodge whose passion for the ocean, particularly the smaller things, is contagious, and Martin and Shelton, our translators, without him none of this would have been possible. #LessonsinConservation #ServingToSave #Conservation #CommunityDevelopment
