The opening of the Samar Pacific Coastal Road made it easier for the people of the "Pacific" towns - Palapag, Mapanas, Gamay and Lapinig - to travel to the nearby towns Laoang and Mondragon, and Catarman, the capital of the province. However, it also benefits those of us from outside who are now able to visit the Pacific towns. The Pacific towns are named as such because they are bounded by the Pacific Ocean, like a good portion of Northern Samar. As a result, there are many beautiful rock formations in the Pacific towns. The Pinusilan Lagoon (or Pinusilan Blue Lagoon) which is in Mapanas is just one of many rock formations here.
