For 67 days, they set out to do something simple: tell one story a day. I sat down with fellow Presidential Leadership Scholars and Marine Corps veterans Kevin Schmiegel and Ed Magee to unpack what really happened during Summer of 67: a campaign that highlighted the stories of PLS scholars, alumni, and staff who’ve devoted their lives to service. We talk about: How a “community of community builders” can create exponential impact Why leaders struggle to tell their own stories (and why that’s a problem) The role of structure and operations in sustaining a daily storytelling campaign The moment a reluctant leader finally shared her story and watched it explode with support How this campaign led directly to Kevin’s Service Project / Nonprofit CEO Accelerator Where my work with Storyline by Kingswood fits in: helping leaders clarify who they are, how they serve, and how they show up consistently across platforms If you’re a nonprofit CEO, a mission-driven executive, or a leader who knows your work is bigger than your current visibility, this conversation is a roadmap. Storytelling isn’t about ego. It’s about honoring the work, strengthening community, and making it easier for people to find and support the missions that matter most.
