[ Longbill snake ] Fish that looks like a snake / Ophisurus macrurhynchus

Longbill snakes (Ophisurus macrurhynchus) rarely swim around and are mostly seen from the sand, showing only the tip of their pointed faces. Despite its name, it is a fish, not a reptile. However, they are surprisingly long, with the largest reaching nearly two meters. When they dive into the sand, they do so from the tail. They do not have caudal fins, perhaps because they prioritize ease of diving, and the tips are sharply pointed. Like the HAMO, it has many bones, but the special technique of HAMO cooking makes it have more hard bones than the HAMO. The bones are too hard for "boning," a special technique used in hamo cooking, so they are not used for food. Even when cooked, they are not very tasty.
