*FIRST DAY IN SERVICE* BRAND NEW WRIGHT STREETLITE! - NK67EDU / 1608

Arriva North East 1608 Sapphire 1 / 5 / 5A branded Wright Streetlite DF NK67 EDU is seen here operating services 5A & 1 between Darlington Town Centre and Bishop Auckland Bus Station on Saturday 10th February 2018 on its first day in service due to vehicle shortages. 13 Brand New Wright Streetlite DF vehicles have been purcahsed to upgrade services 1, 5 & 5A to Sapphire. These vehicles feature E - Leather high backed seating, Free Wi-Fi, USB charging points and next stop announcements. Service 12 & 19 will also benefit from this upgrade as services 1, 5, 5A, 12 & 19 interwork. These services are currently ran by VDL SB200 Wright Pulsar 2 vehicles ranging in ages, on 09, 61 & 13 registrations. These vehicles will be cascaded round the north east to allow the withdrawal of older service vehicles. The first half of the video is filmed on service 5A via Newton Aycliffe as well as Shildon where as the return journey is on service 1 calling at Heighington as well as Shildon. Mechanically these vehicles are fitted with the Euro 6 5.1 Litre Daimler Engines, complete with Start + Stop technology which kicks in when the doors open. Transmission wise they feature the 4 speed Voith.
