Welcome to our "cocoon." We are a couple in our 40s living in rural Tokushima, Japan, sharing a "Digital Video Letter" for our family. This channel captures the small, miracle-filled moments of our 1.5-year-old son Tico, our Chihuahua Ul, and our bunny Tsukune. This is a very special record for our family. We visited the autumn festival in my wife’s hometown. The highlight of this sacred event is the "Shishimai" (Lion Dance)—a powerful and heroic performance where dancers take turns to bring the lion to life with incredible energy. We were also mesmerized by the "Chigo" (children in traditional costumes) and their rhythmic drum performances. Our son, Tico, was only 2 months old at the time. Surrounded by the sound of drums and the cheers of the crowd, he experienced his very first Japanese festival. This is our "Digital Video Letter" to our parents, capturing the traditions we want to pass down to the next generation. No background music—just the raw, powerful sounds of the drums, the flutes, and the spirit of the Japanese countryside. Kagawa Prefecture is one of Japan’s leading ‘kingdoms of lion dances’, with some 800 lion dance troupes still active today. As these traditions have been passed down orally over many years, even lion dance troupes belonging to the same shrine differ in their dances, music, instruments and terminology.
