In 2020, passionate birdwatcher Christian Cooper was on the receiving end of a racially charged incident in Central Park. The story went viral online, and Cooper has since turned his darkest day into an opportunity to promote inclusion and education. He debuted last month as host of a National Geographic TV show about birding. In his new memoir, Cooper details how a life of birding prepared him to deal with the infamous incident. He joined Michel Martin to discuss his sudden fame and his love for the natural world.
