Scot Klenendorst tribute at the IRA Hockey Arena in Grand Rapids Minnesota where he started his NHL Hockey Career. HAPPY TRAILS TO SCOTTY!!! Scot “Scotty” Brian Kleinendorst, age 59, of Grand Rapids, MN passed away December 17, 2019 at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Duluth, MN from injuries sustained in a work-place accident. Scot was born on January 16, 1960 in Grand Rapids, MN and graduated from Grand Rapids High School. Scot attended Providence College on a full hockey scholarship where he met his loving wife, Deb. After a successful college career, he was drafted by the New York Rangers. Scot proceeded to play for the Rangers, The Hartford Whalers, and finished his hockey career with the Washington Capitals. Following his hockey career, Scotty and Deb moved back to Grand Rapids, where they had their two children, Kyle and Kelby. Scot was employed by UPM Blandin and ran his own heating and cooling company, Ducts Unlimited. Scot embodied the unique combinations of being tough yet tender, confident yet humble. He was a private person yet dedicated his life to taking care of and watching out for others. Preceded in death by his mother, Joyce. Scot is survived by his wife, Deb; son, Kyle; daughter, Kelby (fiancé Matt Alstad); grandson, Jaxon; father, Elton “Jack”; brothers, Gary (Sharon), Kurt (Deon); sisters, Deb Thomas (Curtis Ainsoja), Marge (Harry) Loisel, Brenda (Rick) Fox; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. Visitation will be Friday, December 27, 2019 at 10:00 at the IRA Civic Center Arena until the 11:00 AM Memorial Service. Pastor Jay Pepin will officiate.
