#ninefortyfour #hamilton #chronograph - So when it comes to watch complications, other than running seconds or a date, the most commonly sort after would probably be a chronograph! The original stop watch! allowing us to accurately time events, without having to continually look at our wrists! There’s no doubt it’s and incredibly useful complication! But when it comes to mechanical, Swiss made chronographs, they tend to be expensive! Legendary examples such as the omega speedmaster, zenith el premerio, and Rolex Daytona are all upwards of £5 thousand pounds, if not ten! So enter Hamilton! The legendary American/swiss watch maker, with a rich history of creating affordable, reliable timepieces! This is the intra-matic H chronograph! Delightful vintage looks, a swiss movement, and a wearable form factor, all for two thousand pounds! Let’s take a look! ///WATCH MORE VIDOES/// YouTube: / @ninefortyfour ///FOLLOW US/// Instagram: @ninefortyfour Web: ninefortyfour.co.uk ///WRITTEN REVIEW/// Overview - So the Hamilton intra-matic H is a manual wind, twin register chronograph with a throwback vintage design strongly influenced by their watches of the 1960’s. Size - With my callipers the overall width comes in a fraction under 40mm at 39.8, It has a lug to lug dimension of 48.8mm and lug width of 20mm. When it comes to thickness I measure 14.6mm from the dome of the sapphire to the flat case back. This is made up of 3.3mm of visible crystal, a 2.3mm sloped bezel, a 7mm flat case side and 2mm of case back. This version has the optional steel Milanese bracelet, when combined with the watch itself the total weight comes in at 142 grams Design - The case, bezel and lugs are made from one piece of 316L stainless steel and are all of high polish. The overall design is angular, with flat case sides and highly angled flat sided lugs with sheer ends it feels incredibly solid, giving the watch a great feel and presence on wrist Movement - Powering the Intra-Matic H is the Valjue 7753, under the guise of the Hamilton H51. This is a tried and tested Swiss movement, but has been modified specifically for this watch. Firstly the winding rotor and associated automatic winding elements have been removed to create this manual wound movement. The date complication has also been removed. A nice attention to detail though is that the crown positions have been modified to compensate. There is no redundant ghost position when you pull the crown out. This is a nice touch and shows thought and consideration. The movement features a competitive 60 hours of power reserve, pivots on 27 jewels and has a beat rate of 28800 vibrations per hour or 4hrz. From testing the watch for the past week the accuracy is sitting around plus 3 seconds per day. Which is excellent for the price point. Wearability - When it comes to wearability the intra-Matic H wears every well, especially on this milanese strap, it’s looks are vintage inspired, slightly edging towards formal, making for a great smart casual option in my opinion. The 100m of water resistance and tried and tested movement make it a great everyday wear. Here you can see the watch on my six and a half inch wrist next to a selection of other watches for comparison. On the left we have a an omega speedmaster professional, it has has a diameter of 42mm, and lug to lug of 48mm and a thickness of 13.5mm On the right we have a Tudor black bay GMT. It has a diameter of 41mm a lug to lug of 50mm and a thickness of 14.6mm. Against the speedmaster you can see how it wears against one of the all time great chronographs. Which is to say, well! The Hamilton is thicker, and its flat sides make that show, but in every other dimension is comparable when it comes to fit. Against the Tudor, which has an identical thickness you can see it also compares well, especially as it features a thicker chronograph movement Verdict - So what’s the verdict on the Hamilton Intra-Matic H? Well it’s a really tough one! If you’re new to the world of watches and want an attainable swiss made chronograph with brand heritage and vintage looks, you’ll go a long way to find a more compelling package than this! Personally, I know I’ll have a problem with the thickness, plus I already have a few chronographs in my collection. As a result, I won’t be making a purchase! As ever, this simply comes dowe to personal preference, and takes nothing away from the package Hamilton are offering here! It’s truly is phenomenal for the money! Feature packed, wearable, sensational looks! What more do we want! This watch is one hundred present worthy of your consideration!
