The RCSI Institute of Global Surgery welcomed four speakers to discuss this the value of surgical mission trips, offering perspectives from visitors and hosts. From West Michigan Surgical Specialists, Dr Joel Green, MD, FACS and Dr Eric Mitchell, MD, FACS discussed their personal experience and their practice’s long experience of surgical mission trips to countries including Rwanda, Burundi and Togo as recently featured in the Bulletin of the American College of Surgeons. From the Department of Surgery at Wright State University, Dr Priti Parikh, PhD and Ms Musunga A. Mulenga, BS discussed their recent research published in JAMA Surgery which examined local staff perceptions and expectations of international visitors in global surgery rotations. The Grand Rounds was facilitated by RCSI's O'Brien Chair of Global Surgery, Prof Mark Shrime. **The RCSI Global Surgery Grand Rounds are held the first Wednesday of every month at 2pm Irish time.
