This work was inspired by Uirō-uri, one of the “Kabuki Jūhachiban” (The Eighteen Great Kabuki Plays)._🖋️ In the story, the protagonist Sukeroku disguises himself as a merchant selling a medicine called Uirō and comically delivers a rapid-fire speech about its effects. Because of its quick tempo and tongue-twisting pronunciation, it later became widely known as a classic piece for voice and articulation practice. 🗣️📖 Sukeroku’s true identity is the son of a samurai seeking revenge. He takes on various disguises to track down his enemy—one of them being this “Uirō seller.” (The fact that this apothecary in my video had zōri and waraji lying around is purely my own original twist.) Who knows—Sukeroku might appear in one of my videos again someday in another disguise. ⸝⋆ (Although, if he really ran this pharmacy as a disguise, he’d be so good at it that people might think it’s his actual profession. 🧑🏻🔬) While researching various things about Kampo (traditional Japanese herbal medicine), I tried to use materials as close to the real thing as possible… I even used a few real Kampo herbs. But since many of them look almost identical, I thought viewers might find it boring, so I experimented to see if I could get even a slight variation in color. Honestly, I used to really dislike Kampo—so much that I couldn’t even stand the smell. But during the filming period, my whole room was filled with the scent of herbal medicine. 👾 (I’ve been drinking Kampo since last year, so I’m used to it now! Growth!) ASMR is all about delicate sounds. But since my ears haven’t been in great shape, I edited the video by watching the sound waves (dB meter) instead of relying only on listening—so the production was quite a struggle. Also, maybe because of that, the pitch of my comfortable speaking voice keeps getting lower. I never liked my voice to begin with, and now I like it even less, which makes me sad… But I’d be happy if you keep watching as always! (Even if my voice turns all raspy, you’ll still be here for me, right? 🙂←) Lastly— If you look up the original script of Uirō-uri, you might find it fun to finally understand what’s being said in the final scene. ◎ (It’s the kind of text that makes you go “What on earth is this?” at first, so if you’re curious, check it out. 🔍) ▼please follow me*° I post about our days and how we coordinate the clothes we use for the shoot 🕺🏼 ・Twitter (X) / dotokome_ch ・Instagram / dotokome_ch ・Threads https://www.threads.net/@dotokome_ch ▼timestamp 00:00 Opening 01:38 Welcome 04:47 Checking the diagnosis record 09:25 Mixing medicine ① Universal medicine 15:36 Taking notes while examining patients 23:16 Mixing medicine ② Various symptoms 35:02 Handing out medicine, giving advice on health maintenance 40:07 What is true healing? ※I’m managing the channel by myself and have not been able to keep up with subtitling and translation.
