Today we'll talk about the difference between subluxation and dislocation. Dislocation is an injury to the joint where the bone surfaces are not in contact with each other, whereas subluxation is a minor injury to the joint in which the bony surfaces are in contact with each other but are not in proper alignment. The symptoms of a subluxation include sudden pain, swelling, and deformity. The symptoms of a dislocation are also similar, but it is important to differentiate between a subluxation and a dislocation because if it is a dislocation, it needs to be reduced and brought back into the joint. For this, you need to consult a doctor, who will reduce the dislocation so that the bony surfaces are back in contact with each other. This can be diagnosed by a simple X-ray. If it is a dislocation, it needs to be reduced, repositioned, and rested for about 2 to 3 weeks. On the other hand, subluxation usually doesn't require rest or surgery. #Subluxation #Dislocation #JointInjury #Orthopedics #DrKaushikReddy #ApolloHospitals #BoneHealth #JointPain #InjuryTreatment #MedicalEducation ___________________________________________________________________________________ Apollo Hospitals is the leading multi-specialty hospitals group in India.
