Romans 5 Paul says that since we have been made right with God through faith, we now have peace with God through Jesus Christ. Because of Jesus, we have access to grace and we stand firm in it. We can rejoice in the hope of sharing in God’s glory. Paul also says that we can even find meaning in our sufferings. Suffering produces endurance. Endurance builds character. Character strengthens hope. And hope does not disappoint because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. Paul explains that Christ died for us while we were still weak and ungodly. It is rare for someone to die for a good person, though it might happen. But God shows His love for us in that Christ died for us while we were still sinners. Because of His death, we are now saved from God’s judgment. If God made us His friends while we were still His enemies, then we can be even more confident that He will save us completely now that we have been reconciled. Then Paul compares Adam and Jesus. Through one man, Adam, sin entered the world, and death came through sin. Death spread to everyone because everyone sinned. Even before the law was given, sin was present in the world. But Jesus is different from Adam. Adam’s sin brought death. Jesus’ gift brings grace and life. Paul says that Adam’s one act brought condemnation to everyone. But Jesus’ act of obedience, offering Himself, brings justification and life to all who receive Him. Where sin increased, grace increased even more. Sin once ruled through death, but now grace rules through righteousness, leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Thanks for watching! Read your Bible
