Part 2 of our series with Major Ned B. Ricks. Ned graduated from Stetson University and commissioned into the Regular Army as a Second Lieutenant. He served overseas in Germany, Panama, and Vietnam during his 25 years of service. Ned's Awards and Decorations include: Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Clusters, Vietnamese Gallantry Cross with Palm and Silver Star, Vietnamese Service Medal with 2 Campaign Stars · His photographs of the Vietnam War are included in the collection of the National Veterans’ Art Museum in Chicago. · In 2018 the State of Illinois designated Ned as an “Honor 200 Veteran.” · He is the author of o Revelation: A Novel of the Vietnam War (2005) o Trusting Appearances (2008) o I Remember: Chicago Veterans of War (Contributing author, 2015) The positive response from part 1 with Ned was wonderful. Now, he is back using his incredible storytelling ability to take us back to Vietnam retelling his experience within the leadership ranks of a Calvary Unit. He has been an absolute pleasure to spend time with, we are grateful to have made friends with a man of his caliber. Ned's intelligence, selflessness in leadership, and kindness make him someone we always look forward to sitting down with. We also extend that gratitude to Ned's wife, who has put up with us invading their living room for hours at a time.
