Bangor West to Bangor by train. NI Railways. Bangor West was opened on the 1st of June 1928 by the Belfast and County Down Railway to serve the rapidly expanding suburbs of Bangor. It was initially provided with a wooden structure on the up side to function as waiting room and ticket office. It was replaced with a simple, more robust concrete structure in 1978. It remains one of the few intermediate suburban stations in Northern Ireland to retain a ticket office. This is owed to the station's high popularity and usage, being served by the Bangor express train, one of the few stations in North Down to be service. In Bangor the station station buildings were erected in 1864–1865 to designs by the architect Charles Lanyon. However following World War 2, refurbishments made to the building by the Ulster Transport Authority (UTA) damaged the original Lanyon-designed building, stripping it of much of its original brickwork. The company then rebuilt the building, before it was reconstructed again to a new design in 2000 under Translink. The C4K or Class 4000 as is the C3K or Class 3000 are Diesel Multiple Units (DMUS) run on the national railway network which is Northern Ireland Railways . These trains were made in Spain and sent by Ship to Belfast. The manufacturer is Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles (Grupo CAF). Some of the C4K sets have recently been extended from 3 to 6 car sets. All these trains have been successfully ordered under the Northern Ireland Assembly. The C3K is the train running here. As the train approaches Bangor some of the Ulsterbus fleet is seen. The C4K or Class 4000 are Diesel Multiple Units (DMUS) run on the national railway network which is Northern Ireland Railways. NI Railways is managed by Translink which also manages Ulsterbus and Metro (formerly Citybus in Belfast). My video was made on Saturday 28th of March in the year of our Lord 2022.
