One of the Best Las Vegas Trails | 3 Mile Smile + Techno

Fast, flowy desert singletrack with a little extra credit at the end. In this ride, we start from the upper 3 Mile Smile trailhead in the Dead Horse trail system near Las Vegas. Rolling in from the upper trailhead skips about 0.7 miles of the full route, so it ends up being closer to a “2 Mile Smile”, but the downhill still lives up to the name. The climb is a bit of a grind, but nothing brutal. Just steady work with great desert views the whole way up. The payoff is the descent, which is fast, smooth, and ridiculously fun, with tons of flow and speed. After reaching the bottom, I decided to tack on some bonus miles and kept going: • Finished the lower portion of 3 Mile Smile • Climbed back up Badger Pass (Green) • Continued up Techno (Black Diamond) • Dropped Techno for a rocky, technical descent About a quarter mile from the end of Techno, I picked up a flat. Honestly not shocking given how sharp and chunky that section is. I even called it out on the ride and noted I should have added more air to the tires beforehand. A short while later, I was walking the bike back to the truck. That’s mountain biking sometimes.
