Proper lighting is essential for our corals to grow and produce amazing colours. Insufficient lighting may cause corals to recede and too much will cause the algae living within the corals to be expelled; this is referred to as coral bleaching. When implementing a lighting schedule, it is recommended to slowly introduce your corals by started at a lower intensity, then gradually increasing while monitoring them. It is also recommended to leave sufficient time between each increase to avoid adverse reactions from corals. Things to look our for are: *white tips and loss of colour *polyps retracted Another way of getting your corals use to a new lighting schedule is by placing them lower on your aquascape and over time. This can be done over a few weeks while ensuring that your new coral is still receiving the full spectrum of light from a greater distance i.e the lower you place it the further away from the light source it will be. During this period gradually move them towards their permanent location. Also, ensure that the distance from your lights to the water surface is adequate. If the distance is too short, this potentially create hot spots, where corals will be subjected to more light than the rest of your aquascape. ================================================ Follow me on : Facebook / hcaquaticsreefing Instagram / hcaquatics_reefing Also check out our new e-commerce website where anyone can sell their reefing products. https://hcaquatics.co.uk/ Don't forget to like, share and subscribe 😉 #hcaquatics_reefing #nerayansreef #picoproject #ecotech #lightingschedule #radiongen4 #coral #reefaquarium #reeftank #lightingspectrum @hcaquaticsreefing
