Descemets Stripping Automated Endothelial Keratoplasty (DSAEK) with Phaco-emulsification and Intra-Ocular Lens Implantation Over the past decade, there has been a shift in trend from conventional full-thickness penetrating corneal transplants to partial-thickness lamellar transplants. The latter offer numerous advantages like faster visual recovery and possibly reduced chances of complications during or after surgery. DSAEK (Descemets Stripping Automated Endothelial Keratoplasty) involves the replacement of only the diseased inner layers of the cornea by a partial thickness corneal graft. This graft is already pre-cut with a microkeratome, and during the surgery, is inserted into the patient's eye, and held in place by an air-bubble. This case shows an edematous and cloudy cornea in a patient with Fuchs Endothelial Dystrophy. A DSAEK was performed for the same. Additionally, the co-existant cataract was removed by phaco-emulsification, and a foldable intra-ocular lens was placed at the time of surgery
