Try this delicious Instant Pot haleem recipe. Haleem is a popular South Asian stew made of meat, lentils and grains. This is typically slow-cooked for hours and the end result is a thick & smooth haleem. In this recipe, I will show you how to make the perfect Haleem using a pressure cooker and how to achieve that smooth consistency “lace” in the Haleem. Serve with naan or roti. See a list of suggested toppings below. Enjoy! Food Notes: I used the 8 quart Instant Pot. You may use a pre-packaged lentil mix most commonly shan haleem mix. The lentil ratio suggested in the video is for 2 lbs of meat. I highly recommend using the ratios listed on the back of the box. Please adjust ratios accordingly. Use large chunks of meat. This contributes to the smooth velvety texture. You may use small boneless cubes but may not achieve the “lace” in you Haleem. Masala Recommendations: Shaan Haleem Masala https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0090Q4CFY/... Highly recommend shredding meat by hand. Use a potato masher or “ghotni” to mix the meat strands with lentils. This will give your Haleem a smooth consistency or lace. This step takes only 20 to 25 minutes and trust me.. it’s worth it. If in a hurry, you can chop the chunks of meat into 1 inch cubes and blend the lentil/grain mixture together using a hand blender. Note: blending the meat with a hand blender may not give you resha or lace in the Haleem. Suggested toppings: Fried onion Cilantro Green chilies Ginger (julienned) Lemon juice Chaat masala
